I have a 2002Toyota Echo. The switch to the air vents is broken. There was resistance in switching over to recirculate the inside air and then it just gave in. Now the slider (switch) does not work at all to switch over from outside air to circulated
You may want to just take it to a reputable mechanic. They will need to remove that part of the dash to make sure the lever didn't break to switch it over.
